MAC Store Assistant Manager

Position Summary

Manage all store operations in the MAC Store Manager's absence. Assist the MAC Store Manager in the operation of the college store, including sales, customer assistance, and clerical duties.

  3. Propose and implement continuous improvement ideas

Essential Functions

  1. Serve customers, operate cash register, and record sales accurately.
  2. Train new cashiers and assign work to part-time, seasonal, and student workers.
  3. Assist in picking, processing, and packing online orders and processing online returns.
  4. Prepare and process book returns and process book authorizations as directed.
  5. Assist in designing and ordering apparel through meetings with clothes representatives.
  6. Prepare and maintain any documents necessary for the operation of the store, such as sales brochures, gift certificates, flyers, shelf and textbook labels, rental agreement, etc.
  7. Assist with the daily opening and closing of the store as required.
  8. Assist in recording information necessary by determining textbook rental and textbook buyback numbers, and placing textbooks orders and reorders.
  9. Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and auxiliary items to meet campus needs as directed.
  10. Assist with receiving, pricing, merchandising, and promoting inventory for effective selling.
  11. Assist in the preparation for taking of physical inventories.
  12. Assist with computer entries, rental return entries, sanitizing, and preparing textbooks for future sales during the student textbook buyback period.
  13. Assist in preparing and maintaining in-house scholarship lists, invoices, and textbook/rental returns each semester.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical skills:

Excellent computer skills including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, publisher, and point-of-sale software.

Experience

Education:

Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.

Work Experience:

At least one year full-time directly related work experience.

Industry Knowledge:

Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to use standard office equipment such as cash registers, calculators, copiers, and computers.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Ability to bend and stoop to place items on lower shelves and stretch to place items on high shelves.

Ability to carry, push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds of books and supplies on a frequent basis.

Ability to walk and/or stand more than 50% of the time.

Ability to hear and speak to assist customers in the store and on the phone.

This position requires sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, seeing, hearing and repetitive motion.
