The St. Louis Food Bank is once again partnering with the Farmington Ministerial Alliance to co-host a Food Fair for 200 of the neediest client families. Approximately 30,000 pounds of food and other products will be given to those client families receiving a voucher from the organization in the coming weeks.
The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Farmington Sports Complex. Volunteers are needed beginning at 10 a.m. with the event wrapping up at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Fifty volunteers are needed to make the event a success and tasks range from set up of the distribution area and lifting of product from pallets to client vehicles to less labor intensive jobs such as directing traffic flow and marking windsheilds of client vehicles.
Volunteers will need to prepare for February weather by dressing in layers and bringing hats and gloves if the temperature necessitates. Hot chocolate and coffee will be available on-site for volunteers.
The Ministerial Alliance is asking people to help their organization by not only volunteering time, but by encouraging others to do the same.
Those interested in volunteering for a short time or for the event in its entirety should contact Laura Raymer, director of benevolence, by email, text or phone at farmingtonministerialalliance@hotmail.com or 573-915-0522.
