Mineral Area College will celebrate Black History Month during TRIO Day, Feb. 24, with a 10 a.m. presentation in MAC’s Rice Lecture Hall (Little Theatre) by Lindenwood University Black History Professor Angela de Silva. De Silva will be impersonating Lila, a slave who eventually ended up on the Boone Plantation near Defiance. The public is welcome to attend the free presentation, which is co-sponsored by MAC’s History Department in honor of Black History Month, and by the TRIO Programs at MAC, in honor of the federal programs which enrich the educational progress of students throughout the United States.
