Join us Saturday, June 22nd for a Pie Baking Contest at the St. Francois County Fair! Find your family’s favorite, or secret, recipe and join us for a spectacular baking event!
Pies must be submitted at the St. Francois County Fairgrounds by 9:45am, judging will begin at 10:00am at the FFA Building and awards will be announced immediately after judging is completed.
Please notify gate attendants that you are submitting a pie for the contest upon arrival.
Winning pies will be sold by the slice. All proceeds to benefit Help the Hungry Bake Sale, which raises funds to provide food for those in need.

RULES:
1. Only one entry/recipe per exhibitor is allowed in each class.
2. Pies must be baked at home and delivered to the Martin John’s Exhibit Building (building will open at 9:00 a.m.) no later than 9:45 a.m. on June 22, 2024. Judging will begin at 10:00 a.m.
3. This contest is for amateur bakers of all ages. Professional bakers, caterers, certified chefs, or individuals whose primary income results from their baking ability are not eligible.
4. A clearly typed or printed recipe is required upon delivery of food. Recipe must be original and not previously published. Two changes to a published recipe will be considered original. List all ingredients for both crust and filling in exact measurements and include preparation steps, pan size, temperature, and baking time. Pie must be baked in a standard 9-inch, round aluminum pie pan.
5. Pastry pie crust and dessert filling of your choice must be homemade; no pre-manufactured crust or filling is permitted. All soft pies must have a pastry (homemade) crust for bottom. Top can be anything to garnish. Fruit pies must have top and bottom pastry crust.
6. Any soft pie containing eggs should be brought to the Martin John’s Exhibit Building on ice in a cooler. Building staff will leave pie in cooler until judging time.
7. Fruit pies and soft pies will be judged separately.
8. By submitting your pie recipe, you accept all contest rules and agree to be bound by the judges' decision, which will be final.
9. Judging is based on crust (10%), appearance (20%), filling (20%), and flavor/taste appeal (50%). The judges’ decision is final.
10. All recipes entered become the property of the St. Francois County Fair, who reserve the right to publish, promote or advertise recipes, names, and photos without compensation.
11. Taxes are the responsibility of the winners.
