Tie your shoelaces good and tight, get ready to scramble all over a great portion of MAC’s 300 acres.
Mineral Area College’s Relay for Life Team is hosting a 5K Run/1 Mile Walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 (participants meet at the front of the Technology Building to check in). For more information, email ljohnson@MineralArea.edu. Fee is $20 before March 10, and $25 day of race (T-shirts available until supplies run out). Awards will be given to the top three finishers for men and women in age groups 13 & under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over.
The 5K route will begin at the entrance of the Technology Building and run next to the baseball field, around the quarry pond, out to the North College Center, out to the entrance, and finishing next to the Technology Building. The 1-mile walk will start at the Technology Building, go out to the front entrance and back.
The route was created by Jeremy Partney, who said MAC is an excellent spot to run a 5K.
“In late March, our campus is just beginning to see the first signs of spring, and the route is flat and really scenic,” he said. “This can be a nice, local competition for anyone who wants to get a run in, or, with the one-mile walk, a nice stroll around our attractive buildings and grounds. The best part of our 5K route is the end, where participants run through the college quad, next to the waterfall, and finish the race under the breezeway. We’re looking forward to a good turnout.”
