Every evening the news seems to be a catalog of violent crimes and mass shootings occurring around the country. From large cities to small communities, none are exempt. What can everyday citizens do to protect themselves, to stay safe in an unsafe world?
Rich Flotron, Director of Mineral Area College Campus Safety, Campus Police Chief and Criminal Justice Instructor will be the guest speaker for a Free evening meeting, titled “Be Aware, Be Prepared” hosted by Camelot Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The public is invited to attend this informative session that addresses current issues and concerns on Thursday, October 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Camelot dining room.
Flotron has been an educator, leader, investigator, and motivator with Mineral Area College for more than 17 years educating and training workplace professionals with the tools and capabilities they need to succeed. He is an impressive, knowledgeable and comfortable speaker who also trains staffs in security procedures for schools, businesses, churches and public meeting places. He provides factual, common sense methods individuals can develop to be alert to possible threats & avoid or survive, violent encounters.
This is the opening program in a series called “Live & Learn,” to be presented over the next few months. The programs will provide useful, interesting and informative programs to especially meet the interests and needs of people 60 and over, but all are invited.
Scheduled for the winter months are Fact & Fiction on Cost of Nursing Home Care ... Dispelling misconceptions and learning the truth about costs and insurance coverage of nursing home care. Led by Pam Richardson, Camelot Social Services Director and Administrator Becky Fox in November, 2019. You’re A Crafty One… where participants will have fun creating a wreath perfect for the front door or wall. To be held in February of 2020. Exact dates and other programs will be announced as speakers are confirmed.
