The Farmington Downtown Development Association will hold their annual Fall Festival Saturday, September 28, in downtown Farmington from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Guests will enjoy the day downtown visiting arts and crafters, checking out local retail and dining establishments, listening to local musicians and participating in activities.
“The Fall Festival is a great event that showcases the best of downtown Farmington,” said Kraig Sutherland, president of the Farmington Downtown Development Association.
“Unique activities bring people who can get better acquainted with our downtown retailers and restaurants as well as professional services,” said Sutherland.
In addition to the arts and crafts exhibition, special activities will be hosted throughout the day.
The Parents As Teachers Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. The fun run is a 1-mile run through downtown Farmington including obstacles. For more information or to register, contact coordinator Mark Cook at 573-760-2398.
Farmington Pet Adoption Center’s Pet Fest will be held 10 a.m. to Noon on Washington Street between US Bank and the St. Francois County Courthouse. Guests are encouraged to bring their pets in costumes. The top three winners will receive prizes and be entered into a drawing for a treat basket. Scarecrows will line the streets of downtown Farmington as part of KREI/KTJJ Radio’s Scarecrow Decorating Contest. Judging for the contest will take place at 5 p.m. Friday, September 27. The Farmington Public Library will host story time for children from 9 a.m. to Noon on the courthouse lawn on the corner of Jefferson and Columbia Streets. For more information, contact Karen Roman at 573-756-5779.
Shreads of Friendship Quilt Guild will host a quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Long Memorial Hall. Approximately 40 quilts made by local quilters will be on display. Quilts will also be raffled. There is no admission fee. For more information, contact Linda Nickelson at 573-701-5093.
Local folk rock band Rhubarbarella, consisting of Kelli Nicholson, Alexa Brewen and Kate Drennan, will perform in front of Bauhaus Kaffee from 11 a.m. to Noon and will be joined by singers Pamela Sue and Paris Too and Lisa Long. Pamela Sue Perry’s artwork will be featured later Saturday afternoon at The Influence Show in The Factory from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with fellow artists Julie Krovicka and Ian Greenlee.
